Troubleshooting

Most issues with the filter will be caused by a small number of problems. Follow the checklists below to solve any issues you may have. Over time, wear on filter parts will affect the filter function and you may find that a replacement part such as an Impeller or O-ring will be required. Please see your Aqua One retailer to source these parts if required. Occasionally, there may be an issue that is not resolved by following these steps. If this is the case, contact your Aqua One retailer or contact Aqua One Customer Care for further advice.

PUMP NOT WORKING AT ALL Double check that filter has power available. Inspect Impeller for blockage or any signs of wear, see Diagnosing Pump Problems, page 18 . AIR COMING OUT OF OUTLET Check that all plumbing connections are secure and that there are no blockages or kinks, particularly on the inlet side. If you are using an airstone* in the aquarium, move it further away from the Inlet. If the filter was recently cleaned, there may be air in the media. This can be dislodged by gently rocking the filter body back and forth. If air is released, wait until it stops and rock it again. Repeat until no more air is being discharged. Clean filter as described under Maintenance, see pages 12-15 . Inspect, clean and lubricate O-rings, see Cleaning and Lubricating O-rings, page 16. As Hoses get old, the material can become hard and inflexible. While this won’t affect performance it may lead to leaks where the Hose is connected to tap fittings. If this has occurred, replace the Hoses as soon as possible. A short term solution may be to shorten the Hose by 2-3 cm at the ends. *Sold Separately

REDUCED WATER FLOW Check Plumbing for any blockages. Check that the Hoses are not kinked. Clean filter, see Maintenance, pages 12-15. FILTER WORKING BUT NOISY Check Plumbing for any blockages. Check that the hoses are not kinked. Clean filter, see Maintenance, pages 12-15 . FILTER LEAKING Dry all surfaces to help find the point that is leaking. Check that Hoses are securely connected. Ensure that the Quick Release Taps are seated properly and locked in position. Check the O-rings are in place and properly seated. Clean and lubricate O-rings and check for any grit or other materials around them that may be interfering with the seal, see Cleaning and Lubricating O-rings, page 16 . Check that the Media Baskets are properly seated and that the Pump Head is flush with the Canister Body when the Body Clips are locked down.
