Protein Skimmer Maintenance

Check Collection Cup and empty as required.

Monthly - Cleaning the Pump

Impeller Well

Remove and empty the Collection Cup. Unplug and remove the Protein Skimmer.

Remove the Air Intake assembly and Pump

Remove the Impeller Cover and Impeller.

Use a pipe brush* to clean the Impeller Well and outlet of the pump.

A completely clean Protein Skimmer will require running in again, so overcleaning the body of the Skimmer should be avoided.

The maintenance procedures shown here are required to keep the Protein Skimmer running efficiently and should not result in the Skimmer needing to be run in again.

Rinse the Impeller, Air Intake Assembly and Collection Cup in fresh water.

Reassemble the Protein Skimmer and replace it in position in the aquarium.

NEVER clean any Skimmer components with detergents or any other household cleaning products. ONLY use products designed for

marine aquarium use.
